    Khyber College of Dentistry started its journey as a Department of Dentistry of Khyber Medical College in 1964 and was upgraded to the status of Khyber College of Dentistry in 1990. Now it is a fully developed teaching institution and has earned name worldwide. It is a fast growing public health institution as well as tertiary care hospital and is committed to produce highly qualified dental graduates and specialists. The annual intake of undergraduate students has increased gradually from 14 to 50. It has eleven departments both for undergraduate & postgraduate studies and is one of the leading Public dental institutions of the Country.

    Postgraduate courses in the fields of Oral Surgery, Operative Dentistry and Oral Medicine were first introduced in 1988 by university of Peshawar as the college was affiliated to University of Peshawar at that time. In 1995, CPSP gave recognition to the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Department of Prosthodontics for FCPS Part-II training. Recently Department of Orthodontics was added to the list by CPSP.

    The idea of restarting taught clinical postgraduate courses (DCD) in the fields of Periodontology, Paediatric Dentistry (Paedodontics), Operative Dentistry and Orthodontics came from the senior faculty members. The major driving force was the unoccupied faculty positions and dying specialties (Periodontology and Paediatric Dentistry) in the college due to unavailability of qualified specialists or fellows. These postgraduate courses are recognized by Pakistan Medical & Dental Council and are affiliated with Khyber Medical University.

    The Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (DCD) curriculum is a 02 year course. Currently if is offered in the specialties of:

    • Operative Dentistry

    • Orthodontics

    • Paediatric Dentistry (Paedodontics)

    • Periodontology
